A New Sevlte Form…..

Before any weight loss

Losing weight becomes a bigger and bigger challenge as we grow older.  Remember when you were young and could eat anything, drink all night, and still look like one of the 300 Spartans?  Well after the age of 40 that seems unlikely for us average Joe’s.  Eat a burger, gain a pound; drink a beer, gain a pound.  Granted my particular vice is way too much beer and the Maltose in beer is by far the worst type of sugar, but come on, I just cant get my mind around giving it up.  So how do we deal with the inevitable march of entropy as we get older?  Well you could determine your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and the use the Harris Benedict Equation to determine your daily energy expenditure (calories) and model your diet around that.  But seriously, when you work 10-12 hours a days who has time to plan a nutritionally correct diet around a predetermined caloric intake?  So the other part of that equation is increasing your exercise.  But again, when you work 10-12 hours a day when do you find the time?  Well, I think the answer is you make the time for both.  Hence I am embarking on a new journey to eat better, exercise more and hopefully lose some weight.  This will be the first post in a series about my hopeful weight loss journey (Fingers Crossed).  I started my “new” diet 4 days ago and so far have seen a modest improvement of 2lbs.  Hence I am 10% toward my target weight.  Now does all of this mean I will stop drinking beer….HELL NO….there would be very little sense in having a blog about Bikes n Beers with out the beer.  After all, as Ben Franklin said “Beer is mans proof that God loves us”.

In a previous post Throttle mentioned that we have signed up for the Warrior Dash this coming May and that we would be supporting some new svelte forms.  We fully intend to  do just that, it begins now……
