Got an Old Scratch?

I recently had the pleasure of trying a new (at least new to me) Flying Dog Amber ale called Old Scratch.  I have to say it was a very tasty, full flavored lager and was very satisfying after a nice afternoon ride.  Flying Dog Brewery out of Frederick MD has a long interesting history dating back to their first brewery in Aspen, CO and the story of their formation is interesting to say the least, you can read about it here.  According to their own description it’s a malty mellow flavored lager with a 5.5% Alc/Vol and an IBU of 19.5.  They also have some funny sayings on the bottles like “Some itches cant be scratched. Like your fantasy about Latex and flavored lotions”  Although I’m not sure that an itch that this audience hasn’t satisfied, come on admit it, you’ve played with latex and flavored lotions.  But I digress.  The next time you’re out for an afternoon ride you might consider a Flying Dog Old Scratch Amber Ale for your post-ride replenishment.  And with an alcohol content of 5.5% you may just have the cahones to go back out on that trail and hit that 20′ gap…..happy trails and good beer……
